Those decamping to APC from PDP are doing so primarily because of the uncertainty hanging over the PDP. Even PDP Governors are fretting because they're not sure if PDP will not be embroiled in complicated and entangled legal warfare that may result in the PDP not being able to field candidates. And even if they're able to field candidates, elected PDP candidates may still be tossed out of office enmass if the courts determine that the wrong faction conducted their primaries, for example. This is a big dilemma for PDP politicians. 6 Likes |

He's back home. A cool dude with lots of followers, he gave PDP a lot of push ar the last Guber election, it was so close, a tiny margin. Adebutu knew this man is heavy, he dumped Abati like a hot potato. Amosu wanted him so bad and politics happened to him. He has acknowledged Abiodun and Osoba as his leaders, so Amosun takes a backseat. It shows he's now ready to work with the party. However, there's a certain senator waiting in the wings. -Kiss the truth! 11 Likes |

Okay, while Obi keeps struggling to take pictures with footballers and blaming Tinubu for his party having two different chairmen, he has their phone numbers but is clueless about calling them and negotiating the progress of the party. Even his influencers are departing weekly. So far, so good, 2027 looks like a very loud victory for Tinubu. Everyone is aligning; it's becoming embarrassing. Like the 5-0 win of PSG.

I in 2019, Ogun state APC rally was so hot, they were throwing objects on the podium where Buhari was seated, security had to whisk him away. In politics, there's no permanent enemies, just know how to play your game logically.

Richtaiwo:Tinubu is already taking over everywhere with a dubious approach. Lets see who’s going to suffer the consequences of no credible opposition. I’m already an APC member, as my oga Governor Sheriff and I’m waiting for Obi. Those of you in APC will be the ones that will cry later. |

This is a typical Naija mentally to abandon a sinking ship for selfish reasons and tomorrow when PDP becomes the trendy party they then switch back. This people have no loyalty to anyone and this should already tell you the character of such people. What is coming is bigger than APC or any party and even the LP , people are tired, hungry and fed up and above all else people are more enlightened. 2027 will shock many people and shake the country as a whole, with this trajectory 2027 will be what will break or make Nigeria great.

KennethOkonkwo: Peter Obi left the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014, citing several reasons, though the decision was multifaceted and sparked varied interpretations. His primary stated reason was the desire to participate in national politics as a “competitor” rather than a “spectator,” believing that ing a national party like the PDP would allow him to contribute more effectively to Nigeria’s progress. He emphasized that his move was not solely due to internal issues within APGA but rather a strategic choice to align with a platform that could amplify his influence on national affairs. However, other sources suggest additional factors. Some reports indicate that Obi was “deliberately chased out” of APGA due to internal conflicts and discomfort with his presence among certain party leaders, particularly under the istration of then-Anambra Governor Willie Obiano. Critics, including a factional APGA governorship candidate, accused Obi of contributing to the party’s internal crises through alleged dishonesty, claiming his exit as Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman and subsequent defection damaged APGA’s reputation. Additionally, APGA’s national chairman at the time, Victor Oye, claimed Obi had vowed never to leave APGA, suggesting that his departure broke a significant commitment, which some framed as a moral or political betrayal. On the other hand, PDP leaders in the South-East, including figures like Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, actively courted Obi, praising his integrity, leadership, and stabilizing influence, which they believed made him a valuable asset to the PDP. They argued that his defection aligned with a collective vision for a united South-East political front under one party to better serve regional interests. Critics, such as former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, viewed Obi’s move as opportunistic, labeling him as “nomadic” for switching parties, suggesting a lack of ideological consistency. Posts on X also reflect this sentiment, with some s calling his move hypocritical, given his earlier criticisms of the PDP’s governance in Anambra before ing APGA, only to later re the PDP. In summary, Obi’s defection was driven by a mix of personal ambition to engage in national politics, internal APGA conflicts, and encouragement from PDP leaders. However, it was met with criticism from some APGA loyalists and political observers who questioned his motives and commitment. Peter Obi left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Labour Party (LP) in May 2022 due to a combination of internal party issues and strategic political calculations. His primary stated reason was that “recent developments” within the PDP made it “practically impossible to continue participating and making constructive contributions,” citing conflicts with his personal principles and values. Specifically, Obi pointed to widespread bribery and vote-buying during the PDP’s presidential primary, as well as the influence of a party clique working against him. He also expressed frustration with the PDP’s decision to abandon its zoning policy, which he and his ers believed favored a northern candidate over a southern one, particularly from the South-East, where Obi hails from. Additionally, Obi reportedly realized he had little chance of securing the PDP presidential ticket due to a last-minute deal between Atiku Abubakar and Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, which tilted the primaries in Atiku’s favor. Governor Nyesom Wike claimed Obi’s exit was prompted by moves within the PDP to keep power in the north, contrary to Obi’s advocacy for a southern presidency. Obi himself emphasized that ing the Labour Party aligned with his vision of transforming Nigeria from a consumption-based to a production-based economy, as he viewed the LP as synonymous with workers, development, and unity. Critics, including some X s, labeled his move as opportunistic or indicative of political inconsistency, pointing to his history of switching parties (from APGA to PDP to LP). However, his ers, particularly the youth-driven “Obidient” movement, saw his defection as a principled stand against the PDP’s transactional politics, with some believing he was pushed out for refusing to bribe delegates. Obi’s decision was also influenced by encouragement from political elders, possibly from the Yoruba region, who backed his move to the LP to disrupt the dominance of the PDP and APC. In summary, Obi’s defection was driven by internal PDP conflicts, including vote-buying and a perceived northern bias, alongside his strategic aim to pursue his presidential ambition on a platform more aligned with his values and with broader appeal among Nigeria’s youth and disaffected voters. |
