Misinformation here and there. Oduduwa, the generally acclaimed father of the yorubas was never an Ooni. When Oduduwa died and it was observed that his seven grandsons had gone to various places to set up their own kingdoms and no one was available to step into the vacant stool of Oduduwa, it was decided that his Chief Priest, that is Ooni n ji ri Orisa should be asked to succeed him as the Arole Oduduwa. That would not have been possible if any of Oduduwa grandsons had been around. Ooni is the spiritual head of the Yorubas as the Chief Priest, while Alaafin is the political head of the Yorubas.
