Alert!!! Facebook web page has stopped functioning on many devices. So i tried the Facebook webpage www.facebook.com yesterday. I couldn't . Rather it shows "redirecting". I tried several times without success. I felt maybe Facebook is embarking on system upgrade. I Googled to double check if there is any information online. I couldn't find any. This morning, while checking my e-mails, i saw Facebook weekly updates. I clicked on the link and bingo! Facebook was opened. I went through the newsfield did what i wanted and logged out. Logged in again using www.facebook.com and was able to access it. I thought then that the issues have been resolved till a few minutes ago when I tried to and the "redirecting" response flashed my screen. What is happening? Is face@ systematically shutting down? Has this anything to do with tomorrow's elections? Someone (Fayose) had raised alarm to that effect but we all dismissed it. But what am currently experiencing is getting me curious. Hello nairalanders, am I the only one experiencing this? Are they shutting down the most used social media in Nigeria for the sake of the election ![]()

It was indeed shocking when reports filtered in that security operatives in Kano have intercepted a truck load of already thumbprinted ballot papers. As usual, the social media was agog over the development. A few hours later, a clarification was released by the police that they were specimen ballot papers to be used in educating the voters. Nevertheless, the opposition PDP and various other independent-minded thinking Nigerians were not comfortable with the development. There are several questions begging for consideration. 1. Was the inscription "SAMPLE" or "SPECIMEN boldly written across the ballot? 2. The thumbprints, were they done manually or were the prints actually printed? 3. This thumb printed ballots, were they restricted to only Kano, or were there similar trucks to other states as well? 4. Considering these complicity on the part of INEC, just how prepared is INEC in conducting a credible and fair election?

Since it is now practically impossible to realistically practice valentine's day in line with the true and original precepts why publicize it? Can we realistically say that Valentine as we have it today is how St. Valentine designed it? Many people today see valentine day as a day for arranging random dates, getting laid randomly and returning home the next day wasted and spent. True expression of love is something couples and lovers do everyday, every hour, every minute. It has nothing to do with Bed Mathematics. 1 Like |

kenodrill: I don't quite agree with you. Which woman will bear to have her husband jailed for two years while she solely caters for the family responsibilities? When it comes to family affairs, many negative issues (including incest) are swept under the carpet on the basis of forgiveness and protecting the family name. 3 Likes |

We have no candidates for Rivers, Zamfara - INEC WHO is the We? Right from the moment APC took over governance in 2015, it has never behaved like a ruling party. It continues to act as an opposition. It is this kind of stupidity that made PDP took over leadership of both houses of the National Assembly even when PDP was in minority in the house. After an abysmal poor performance and inability to fulfil campaign promises, they now hope and heavily rely on a Deux es machina to miraculously catapult them to power again. Every average APC er is strictly hoping that some form of irregularity is being secretly arranged in collaboration with INEC to give them a magical victory. Ordinarily, every Nigerian should have appreciated the fact that INEC is appearing to be independent. But apc ers feel INEC must do their bidding since they are in power. They always make comparison with the PDP days with the claim that INEC had often done the bidding of pdp. If this were true, was it not the same INEC that conducted elections in which pdp lost power and the grabbed it? My people, don't be fooled. Go on Saturday and cast your votes for the candidates of your choice. Your votes will count. INEC officials can only rig elections if you the electorates permit it. 4 Likes |

Ok, go to Page 67 of that same book where Baba wrote- "I do have my deferences with H.E. Atiku Abubakar. One area I cannot fault him though is his dedication yo duty. He is a very hardworking person. His life principle is hinged on his desire to achieve success in whatever he does. He knows what he needs and how to get it. He is dogged, calm and calculated" (Olusegun Obasanjo, "My Watch", Page 67) |

JeogahII:this is my point- 30k is the proposed minimum wage. That is around 60% increase on what the government currently pays as wage. The present situation has the recurrent expenditure which outweighs the capital expenditure. In a strong economy, such an increase will not pose any significant negative effect on the economy. But in the Nigerian situation, once the salary is increased, the immediate action is to devalue the currency to pay out valueless currency. Of what significance is the increase if naira suddenly begins to exchange at 500 to a dollar? On the other hand, if the naira currently exchanges at say 150 to a dollar, 18k minimum wage would even be more valuable than 30k at this current rate of 370 to a dollar. The nigerian workers certainly deserve the best wages. But it must go hand in hand with a currency that has real value. |

I pity those people demanding for salary increase instead of an improved economy. Increased salary will definitely results in a rise in inflation. The result will be worse than the current salary. If the economy is sound and inflation curtailed, they could well manage with the current salary.
