Onefornaija24: Deportation is one of the most common immigration proceedings that non-citizens can face. Illegal immigrants can be deported (removed) when they no longer have the authority to remain in the country due to expired visas, illegal entry, and other violations. But can green card holders also be deported? Immigrants who have obtained a green card can live and work in the U.S. on a permanent basis. Although green cards give immigrants permanent legal status, it does not exempt them from being deported in certain cases. The following will help you understand why green card holders can be deported and how you can protect your legal rights in immigration courts. Deportation and Immigration Law Like all citizens, green card holders must abide by U.S. laws. But for these residents, legal violations can lead to deportation depending on the circumstances of each case. According to U.S. law, any non-citizen may be subject to removal. In some cases, green card holders applying for U.S. citizenship can face deportation as a result of discoveries made during background checks. But non-citizens are more commonly deported due to criminal activities including the violation of immigration laws. Crimes That Lead to Deportation for Green Card Holders In most cases, deportation proceedings are levied against immigrants who have committed crimes of moral turpitude or those classified as aggravated felonies. There are additional criminal violations that may also lead to the deportation of green card holders. Crimes of moral turpitude consist of the intent to harm other individuals or their property, theft, fraud, and larceny. Domestic abuse and driving under the influence may also fall under this classification. In order for green card holders to be deported, crimes of moral turpitude must have been committed within the 5-year period following their ission into the U.S. Committing two or more criminal acts of moral turpitude at any time after a non-citizen has been itted into the U.S. may also lead to removal proceedings for green card holders. Aggravated felonies include drug trafficking, murder, rape, money laundering, sexual abuse against minors, perjury, and other crimes. Conviction of an aggravated felony will result in deportation. More importantly, convicted non-citizens won’t be allowed to re-enter the United States. Legal Protection Against Deportation Green card holders who violate U.S. laws aren’t removed immediately. This gives immigrants a chance to protect their legal rights in immigration courts. Some cases may allow you to obtain a waiver that grants legal forgiveness. Defendants must apply for this waiver, and your immigration attorney can help you determine its availability as well as other potential strategies for your protection. Green card holders have the legal authority to reside in the United States. Although this provides some level of protection against removal, it doesn’t mean that these non-citizens can’t be deported. Understanding the reasons why green card holders may be deported is the first step in securing your legal status in the U.S. Consulting with an experienced immigration attorney gives you the resources you need to protect you and your family’s wellbeing. 1 Like |

TheDemola: Most planes especially newly acquired planes are leased or rented. By the way, nothing is bad in doing so. Its cost effective for some and for those with money they buy new and sell later to smaller countries or airlines. Do your researches before judging. I think we should talk about how they want to commission it before Buhari's exit. In my opinion, they wont start any operation until later in the year. 3 Likes |

Hello house, My mom had an experience as a Nigerian citizen returning to Nigeria recently. She did covid19 test and it was *negative*. Before boarding plane to Nigeria, she was required to fill a form and generate a bar code. To get the bar code she must pay approx. #100k( for unvaccinated and #50k for vaccinated travelers) before she can be allowed into her country of birth and residence. I do understand the need for people and country to monitor anyone coming into its country but why such a huge burden on its citizen going back to her motherland? What happens if someone is cash trapped? Or an elderly person with no funds to pay for 2 covid19 tests despite being declared negative from abroad? Are we as a country shooting ourselves on the foot, because, if many tourist or foreigners find out the stress and fees to pay to get into the country, they could opt out for other tourist destinations. USA for example average 70k covid positive everyday and foreigners are not subjected to this kind of stress, just enter with a negative result and when leaving USA, go for a free test. Please, correct me if am getting something wrong here but as a Nigerian, it doesnt make sense to do another test when i was declared negative and returning to my country of residence. Is this another way to enrich testing centers? or are we making our already corrupt Immigration officers, more corrupt? |

I dont see how PDP or anyone will win the hearts of market women, NURTW, and co. These are the Tinubu's base. Alimosho is one of his strongest hold and its controlled and managed for him by Aregbesola even when he was gov of Osun. Lagos Island and Lagos central can hardly be won by PDP, maybe after Tinubu is gone. He maybe losing grip but i dont think he lose Lagos so soon esp when APC has retained the Federal power. Maybe you can talk about his political demise as from 2031 or when lagos money dry up.

Amendments may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a convention of states called for by two-thirds of the state legislatures.[1] To become part of the Constitution, an amendment must be ratified by either—as determined by Congress—the legislatures of three-quarters of the states or state ratifying conventions in three-quarters of the states.[2] The vote of each state (to either ratify or reject a proposed amendment) carries equal weight, regardless of a state's population or length of time in the Union. He is saying this based on advice given to him by his hungry racist lawyers. Also plan to encourage his based to come and vote next week and send fear to immigrant communities. kolewek! 2 Likes |

mighty2:This is pure rubbish. Never get discouraged at relocating to anywhere of your choice. There could be discrimination, you could get low skills jobs at the beginning but i bet its worth it if you have kids cos they will be getting the best education and could in future get the best jobs any where in the world. Dont let anyone deter your dreams. Some make it some dont. As naija boy, if you are hardworking, you will make it. I used to do 3 jobs but today i do one and pay my bills. The first few years are quiet difficult but you can make it if you dont relent in your efforts. Where did Nigerians in diaspora see $22B they sent home last year? It's hard work and not discouragement. NEVER LET ANYONE DISCOURAGE YOU. 5 Likes 2 Shares |
