This is madness, Chidiboy, the warders, the policemen backing him up, his wife and the father of favour's friend, everyone involved must face firing squad and the young girl must be released. What's going on in this country, why is criminality and kidnapping becoming a big business, even among prisoners?. Prisons have now become another hotel where people do all kinds of stuff?. And the biggest problem are the law enforcement officers who have been compromised. Not every Kidnapping must be linked to herdsmen. This is crazy.

The prime suspect in the kidnapping incident of a 12-year-old girl, Favour Oluwaseyi in Obio/Akpor Local Government area of Rivers State on August 7, 2024, had been traced by men of the Nigeria Police to the Enugu Correctional facility.

The suspect, simply identified as Chiboy, is an inmate at the facility, as the phone number used in calling the mother of the victim and the number used in receiving a demanded ransom of N100,000 were traced to him.

Expressing their displeasure over the ugly development, the Rivers Civil Society Organisations have called on the Inspector General of Police and the Controller-General of Nigeria Correctional Service to unmask and arrest the suspect who has been operating and masterminding abductions from the Enugu Correctional facility.

Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, Chairman Rivers Civil Society Organisations, Comrade Enefaa Georgewill, said it was unfortunate that criminals now use correctional centers as hideouts to perpetrate crime and criminality in the society.

The civil rights defenders however, expressed disappointment that efforts made by operatives of the police to arrest the suspect after unravelling his identity were resisted by officials of the correctional facility.

He said, “The story of Oluwaseyi is one story too many in our society and it goes to show the complicity of our security agents, especially the police and wardens in correctional facilities, otherwise called prisons in the continuous atrocious crimes going on in Rivers State and across the country.

“It is barbaric and shameful that eight months after a kidnapping incident, we are still talking about this matter even though we have already gotten the primary suspect who has been traced to Enugu prison.

“What again is the police waiting for, except that men of the police and wardens of the correctional facility are complicit in this matter, otherwise this matter is straightforward.

“We are saying the controller general of corrections should immediately ask his men in Enugu prison to provide the criminal who have kidnapped Oluwaseyi, we are equally calling on the inspector general of police to ask his men to do the needful by making sure that all those who are involved, especially the young girl that lured the victim out of the house that have been caught on camera.”

RIVCSOs further called on the Nigeria Police to invite the friend of the kidnap victim who was seen on CCTV camera escorting the victim to meet the kidnappers on that fateful day.

“We want the inspector general of police to ask his men to produce the girl, because from the information available to us, the girl is nowhere to be found, the girl and her parents have parked out of the house, and the police are saying that they don’t know their whereabouts.

“To date, the young lady who lured Oluwaseyi out of the house is nowhere to be found. We are saying the Inspector General of Police should make sure that the police in Rivers State provide that young lady.

“We are equally saying that he police should do everything humanly possible within their powers to make sure that all those who are found culpable in this matter, especially the wife of the kidnapper in prison whose phone number have been gotten should equally be brought back for security, anything outside this, we will be left with no other choice than to escalate this matter beyond this Press briefing.”

Explaining how his 12-year-old daughter fell into the hands of kidnappers, the 44-year-old father, Mr Ogunsinasi Oluwaseyi, said his daughter was lured out of his house in broad daylight by a neighbour on August 7, 2024.

He said the female neighbour led his innocent daughter to a waiting strange man who, upon laying his hand on his daughter, immediately took her away in a tricycle.

The distraught father of four is now begging well-meaning Nigerians to come to his aid in helping him secure the release of his abducted daughter, who had been in captivity for eight months.

Narrating the incidents that preceded his daughter’s abduction, he said, “On the 7th of August, 2024, I was at my place of work when my wife called me and said my daughter is missing. I was shocked because that was the least thing I expected.

“My wife told me that she was watching TV in the sitting room with the children, alongside a friend of my kidnapped daughter and my wife went to the toilet to ease herself in our bedroom, before my wife could finish from the toilet to return to the sitting room, my daughter and her friend were nowhere to be found.

“My wife checked at the next apartment within the compound, the two girls were nowhere to be found, my wife also checked outside but couldn’t find either of them and she decided to raise an alarm.

“One hour later, my kidnapped daughter’s friend was seen running back, so my wife asked her. Where is your friend Favour that who of you was watching TV together in the sitting room? She said Favour followed a strange man, that both of them followed the man and as the man was going Favour followed the man and she was behind telling Favour, do you know this man you are following but she said nothing.

“That day we searched all round but couldn’t find her, I even called one of my brothers to help me search, but could not find my Favour anywhere.”

Mr. Ogunsinasi explained that the kidnappers, after a week called his wife on the phone and demanded a ransom of N200,000, which N100,000 was paid following much pleadings, adding that the kidnappers despite receiving the ransom and acknowledging receipt, refused to release the little girl.

“On the 9th day of August, a number called my wife and the caller asked my wife to come and collect my daughter at Eleme junction, on her way going, the person called again and was now asking how much are you coming with and my wife said you didn’t ask me to bring money,. you only said I should come and collect my daughter.

“The kidnapper said she should bring N200,000, that they were to do that they can share it, my wife pleaded and they agreed to accept the sum of N100,000, my now asked how she should pay the ransom either with cash or transfer and he said we should transfer to an number he later sent.

“We thereafter did the payment, having made the payment, after they confirmed the payment, they requested another N100,000.”

He stated that the kidnapers after reneging on their promise to release the little girl unconditionally once their demand is met he decided reported the matter to the Miniokoro police division.

“I went and reported the matter at the anti-kidnapping unit at Miniokoro, the police later came to our house and invited the girl that lured my daughter out to the station, upon getting to the station, they interrogated to girl and because the girl is a minor, she was released by the police.

“Little did I know that the father of my daughter’s friend was going behind my back to extract information from the police, it was after I discovered that I wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Police

“The police then tracked the number that called my wife and demanded ransom and the number showed Enugu prison.”

Mr Ogunsinasi further disclosed that the Kidnappers phone number and used in receiving the paid ransom was traced to a correctional facility in Enugu.

“The number that was attached to the bank that received the ransom, after it was tracked, it equally showed Enugu prison, which means somebody in Enugu is the one controlling the outside.

“So when we got to the prison the suspect’s picture was given to one of the wardens, so they used to picture to fish him out and brought him and when I saw him, I said this one is not a prisoner because even the wrist watch he was wearing, myself that is even free don’t tie that kind of wrist watch.

“Even when he was brought to the controller’s office, we never knew that he was the person, untill the wardens told us that this is the person we are looking for.

“The police interrogated him, he was initially cooperating with the police during the interrogation, he denied having access to a phone, not until the police reminded him of the video call he did with his wife right inside the prison, before he now concurred that he has his own personal phone.

“So the police now asked him to bring the phone and assigned a warder to follow, by the time himself and the warder will return, it was like the warder has taught him what to say, that was when he suddenly became aggressive to the police and started shouting at the police, even the statement he has given before he left, he told the police that he cannot sign it and a senior prison official ed him that we cannot force him to sign and they asked us to leave the premises.”

If the PDP really wants to get a good shot at the presidency, they should put their house in order and woo Peter Obi (a man who ran in an unknown party and got 6 million votes) back to the party with assurances that they would give him the ticket. Without it, nothing can stop Tinubu from winning in 2027.
You look PDP finish and think after putting their house in order, they will now hand over their ticket to an outsider who contributed nothing to the party?. No matter how useless PDP can be, they can't be as useless as Labour Party and their party's candidate.

The South-South Zonal Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has warned Debo Ologunagba, the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, to stop interfering in the affairs of the South-South zone of the party henceforth.

The Committee, in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin, directed Ologunagba to refrain from interfering with or discussing matters related to the Party’s affairs in the South-South Zone and its respective states.

The warning follows what the Orbih-led exco described as a reckless statement attributed to Ologunagba, in which he criticized Governors Pastor Umo Eno and Elder Sheriff Oborevwori of Akwa Ibom and Delta States, respectively, for their open declaration of for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress in the 2027 general elections.

“We are asking Ologunagba to stay away from Edo PDP and his unsolicited unholy comments during this Holy Week.”

In the statement signed on the committee’s behalf by the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Prince Etim Isong, the Zonal leadership noted that Mr. Ologunagba has failed to differentiate between expressing personal opinion and officially speaking on behalf of the People’s Democratic Party.

The zonal working committee stressed that such a character is unfit to hold the sacred office of the National Publicity Secretary of the Party.

“The Party in the South-South Zone is tired of the constant embarrassing and shameful conduct of this Debo Ologunagba and wishes him to desist, forthwith, from interfering, discussing, or issuing any statements regarding issues concerning or relating to the Party in the South-South Zone or any of its States. Ignoring this warning will attract severe consequences, the Zonal leadership warned.

The Party’s leadership also emphasized that Ologunagba’s tendency to make unguarded statements has contributed to the many avoidable crises the Party has faced.

“His unprofessional conduct is seen as a significant factor in the PDP’s ongoing struggles to regain power in Ondo State.

“Furthermore, the Zonal leadership firmly stated that acts of disrespect towards leaders of the Party in the South South will not be tolerated from Ologunagba or anyone else”.

They reiterated that Ologunagba’s carelessness has also led to affronts demonstrated by the Party’s Governors’ Forum toward the nation’s apex Court regarding recent pronouncements concerning the office of the National Secretary of the Party.

“In light of these issues, the South South Zonal Working Committee further reiterates that Ologunagba is unfit to speak for the Party in matters affecting its interests in this zone,” the working committee further declared.

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has held a closed-door meeting with some prominent of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) from Kano State, fueling speculation about an impending political shift ahead of the 2027 general election.

Those present at the meeting included Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South in the Senate; Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, representing Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure federal constituency; Hon. Aliyu Sani Madaki, representing Dala federal constituency, and a former lawmaker, Hon. Badamasi Ayuba.

The development was confirmed by Senior Special Assistant to the APC National Chairman on Visual Communication and Events, Aminu Dahiru, in a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday evening. According to him, the meeting was part of the groundwork for the politicians’ planned defection from NNPP to the APC.

“It is public knowledge that in recent times, these prominent politicians have openly expressed their dissatisfaction with the leadership style and perceived injustice from the NNPP’s national leader, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso,” Ganduje’s aide.

Ganduje Receives AMAC Chair, Councilors, Hundred Others

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has declared that more than 60% of residents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are now in the ruling party.

Ganduje, who formally received the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, his councilors and thousands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ers, Labour Party (LP) across the six area councils of the territory into the APC, at a rally held at Old Parade Ground, Thisday in Abuja, said “the territory is important to be left in the hands of opposition parties.”

According to the APC national chairman, with the latest political development, the ruling party is set to produce the only Senator for the FCT, two member of the House of Representatives and all area councils chairmen in the territory.

“Ladies and gentlemen, as part of that Renewed hope agenda, today we have started seeing that FCT will be converted to APC. Today we have a great political giant, we have the chairman of AMAC which is the most popular local government in the Federal Capital Territory.

“The chairman with all his elected councilors, with all his appointed councilors, with all the politicians from PDP, they have decided to come to our great party, the APC. He has come with his thousands of ers.

“Also, we have decampees from Bwari Area Council. We have decampees from Kuje Area Council, we have decampees from Abaji Area Council, we have decampees from Kwali Area Council, we have decampees from Gwagwala Area Councils.

“What remains now, almost all the politicians, all the people, more than 60% of the Federal Capital Territory is now APC,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the former APC Governors, the immediate past governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello declared no vacancy in the Aso Rock presidential villa comes 2027, adding that” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will overwhelming be re-elected to continue with the good work he is doing for the country.”

Bello called on all of the party who have one issue or the other to come together and unite to make the broom platform virile for any electoral contest, stressing that APC will soon take over all the area councils in the FCT.

“All the Area Councils will be APC, it is just a little time that will take. Let me commend our national chairman, let me commend the state chairman of FCT, Alhaji Usman for all the wonderful job he’s being doing.

“When I came into this arena I was shocked to see the mammoth crowd that turned out within this shortest possible time.

“Let me tell you that this mandate that Mr President is carrying, is the mandate of the people and the people of this country have spoken and I want to assure you that come 2027, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. I will use this opportunity once again, to appreciate all founding fathers of our party, Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu played a significant and very pivotal role in ensuring that we have a party we are all trouping to today.

“Our former president as the first president under the platform of the APC, former President Muhammadu Buhari. He has said it time without number that he remains a father in APC and he is a member of APC.

“Let nobody mistake it that Mr President and former President have any issue. In fact, they continue to confer in moving this country forward. So we have APC intact, I call on all other of the party who have one issue or the other, you can’t build a house and run away from it. I urge everybody, let’s come together and unite. Other political parties are just going to escorting us to the villa come 2027.

“Come back, when you are inside APC, and you are making your demands you are talking but if you leave APC and you are outside APC and you are making demands, you are simply making noise and those of us that are inside APC we will tell you to keep quiet. Therefore, APC is the owner of Nigeria today and tomorrow,” he said.

While presenting the defectors to the party’s national leadership,

It is only a matter of when, Kwankwaso would have returned to APC a long time ago, would even have been appointed a minister but Ganduje was the stumbling block. And as Ganduje has recently claimed that NNPP is dead and Kwankwaso is coming back, it means Ganduje has finally accepted to welcome Kwankwaso into APC. With the statement of Kano NNPP Chairman, they must have known already.

The state's Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, made this statement on Thursday during an appearance on News Central, where he addressed the growing insecurity in the state.

The Borno State government has raised concerns over the infiltration of the state by foreign terrorist elements.

The state's Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, made this statement on Thursday during an appearance on News Central, where he addressed the growing insecurity in the state.

"We have in the rank and file of Boko Haram, militants who are not from Nigeria but from neighbouring countries like Mali, Burkina Faso, and other countries. That is what we mean by foreigners ing the rank and file of Boko Haram,” he said.

"It is a federal matter. We are aware that the federal government is taking steps to safeguard the territorial borders of the country. The relevant security agencies—the Army, the Police, Immigration, and others—are working hard to detect the entry of foreign assets into Nigeria.”

He described the matter as “sensitive” because “Nigeria’s boundary, and indeed boundaries all over Africa, are porous”.

“We have cases where bandits and terrorists go in and out undetected. That appears to be an Africa-wide problem,” he added.

His comments come amid rising concerns over the resurgence of Boko Haram terrorism in the state.

Earlier, Governor Babagana Zulum raised the alarm over the worsening security situation in Borno State. Recent Boko Haram attacks and the dislodgement of military formations in key areas like Wajirko, Sabon Gari, Wulgo, and Izge indicate that the state may be losing control.

Speaking at a Special Expanded Security Meeting in the first week of April, Zulum condemned the ongoing attacks and kidnappings, emphasising that such incidents were happening almost daily without any serious confrontation from security forces.

He described the situation as a serious setback for Borno and the wider North East region.

The Plateau State Government has launched an investigation into the alleged poisoning of 36 cows in the state.

The cattle said to belong to one Samaila Nuhu, were reportedly poisoned on April 16, 2025, at Tafi Gana Junction in Zanwar Ward of Bassa Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information, Mrs Joyce Ramnap, the government said it is investigating the matter through the Ministry of Livestock Development, Veterinary Services, and Fisheries, noting that a team of experts has been deployed to collect samples and determine the cause of the incident.

The commissioner urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculations that could inflame tensions or disrupt peace in the area.

She emphasised Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s commitment to justice, transparency, and peaceful coexistence among citizens.

According to the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Bassa, Ya’u Idris, the cows were poisoned by substances laced on garden eggs scattered around the grazing area.

The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to an allegation circulating on social media, particularly from the GAFDAN Media Team, concerning the alleged poisoning of 36 cows belonging to one Mallam Samaila Nuhu on the 16th of April, 2025, at Tafi Gana Junction in Zanwar Ward of Bassa LGA.

“While the government is deeply concerned about this report, it urges the public to remain calm and avoid speculations or narratives that may further inflame tensions or disrupt the peace in the area.

“In line with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s commitment to justice, transparency, and peaceful coexistence among all citizens and residents of Plateau State, the Ministry of Livestock Development, Veterinary Services and Fisheries has been directed to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the incident.

A team of veterinary experts, environmental officers, and field investigators has already been deployed to the location to collect samples and establish the facts surrounding the alleged poisoning.

“Government remains steadfast in promoting peaceful cohabitation, inclusive dialogue, and sustainable solutions to longstanding issues of land use and grazing practices. We therefore appeal to all stakeholders to avoid inflammatory statements and allow the due process of investigation to take its course.”

The government assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to establish the facts surrounding the alleged poisoning and urged stakeholders to avoid inflammatory statements and allow the investigation to run its course.
