The problem with you guys is that you think any place that has "gbo" either starting or ending, belongs to Ibos. That's the height of delusion and disingenuity. Very annoying!!

Don't mind them, that's why they want to claim Lagos because of Igbosere and Igbobi

It’s not about negativity, we’re just being realistic. We’ve seen the same recycled promises and empty slogans for decades.
If we don’t speak the truth and hold leaders able, who will?
Pretending everything is fine won’t move Nigeria forward. It’s time we face reality and demand better.
That’s not hate ,it’s patriotism with sense.

The truth that it will take 50 years to complete the road? Is that what you call the truth.

Opposition doesn't mean everything must be condemned just because your candidate lost in an election.

Appreciate good things about the government when you see one and on this coastal high way Tinubu got it right

I swear Wike is a baddest politician. If he were to be a footballer he would rank in the level of Messi, Ronaldo.

His salvo and his deliveries are so accurate, he defeated Amaechi in political turf and still defeating him in the war of words. In infrastructure and service delivery nko, Wike is bae.

We are discussing the Lagos State government, not the Yoruba regional government. What surprises me is that individuals who have no investment or presence in Lagos State believe they have a say in its affairs simply because they are Yoruba. Ask yourself: has your choice in Lagos matters put food on your table? Be wise and stop holding grudges against yourself.

And who are you to interfere in the affairs of Lagos, does Lagos share boundary with SE?

The statement is right, tho I am not saying you are wrong. Come to O'Neil and see a lot of empty cargoes returning to their countries after supplying us goods.
If we have a lot to export, when these ships comes with products, they should leave with our exports, not return empty.

What you have failed to see is that the moment importation is not checked, then it destroyed the exportation drives of a country.

Control importation by placing tariff and ban on certain commodity and see the the law of necessity takes its course. All the items mentioned by the OP can be produced in Nigeria including steel with our iron ore that contains highly needed minerals like aluminum with high return

Listen Reno, you very Well would have perfectly understood his prognosis on balance of trade but because you're drunk with Bigotry your head became beffuddled!!

Was he talking about blanket importation? No!! Did he infer that Alcohol, cigarrettes and such trivial imports be allowed? No?? Why then did you bring Alcohol importation and the likes into it?To discredit the write-up? Why? For What? Is the write-up about Tinubu or is it about the general malady in Nigeria's Import/export regime since a long time ago??

Bro,your being clever by half can never and will never go Well for you!!

You are dying slowly of Bigotry while they are moving on...

Tell me how many developing countries have been able to maintain balance of trade?

What many of you don't understand is importation and exportation works as each one pulls other depending on how the country manage its import and export trade policy.

You will agree that over there years, the government have oiled the importation system to the extent that Nigeria now depend on imported maize to feed it's livestock's industry. Sincerely, do you think Nigeria will ever make a head way if we can't excel in area we have comparative advantage such as agriculture.

This is the time Nigeria government should place a stringent measure to curb importation of junks that are being dumped into the country. If many of you critique find your self in the production sector is when you will realize how vulnerable and weak Nigeria has become as a result of over dependent on importation and the consequence lack of innovation that have stagnated our industrial sector. But how do you convince a container economy mind. Sad.

After 2 years of Tinubu’s istration, it’s now time to properly rate him. And in this piece, I’m going to set aside my dislike for him and his values, and focus only on his actions so far as president; particularly on the reforms he has engineered since he came to power.

FUEL SUBSIDY: “Fuel Subsidy is gone” was part of the last phrases he uttered on his Inauguration Day and since that day till date, Nigeria has not remained the same. Fuel price ballooned to the roof and with it the cost of transport and essentials rose astronomically almost beyond the reach of an average Nigerian. But was he wrong? No.

Like we all heard them say, the 3 major candidates in the 2023 presidential election all promised to remove fuel subsidy once they get into office. What some have argued is that there may have been differences in “how” they would have gone about it. But Tinubu chose to go about it the way he did and we are here today.

Now, let me make an analogy of this fuel subsidy thing and how what we are going through is a necessary pain that is needed to set Nigeria on a solid foundation that nothing much will ever shake its roots again.

Take Nigeria as a child in oxygen in a hospital. Now, he has been in the oxygen for years draining the finances of his family ; both the father, mother, siblings and even extended family . Now, at a time, the family complained to the doctor that they no longer have money to continue to pay for the boy’s oxygen . They advised the doctor to remove the oxygen tank and allow the boy to breathe on his own. The doctor agreed. But each time the doctor removes the oxygen, the boy starts to struggle with breathe as though he is about to die. On the other hand, however, the family is always relieved of the expenses that comes with paying for oxygen. But not longer after, they would have to continue the expenses again because they can see their boy struggling for air and they don’t want him to die. Until one day another doctor came. And seeing how long the boy has been in oxygen, and the financial strain it has caused his family, advised the family to allow him remove the oxygen pipe and be ready for two things - it’s either the boy struggles for breathe until he dies or he struggles for breathe until he stabilizes and can now breathe on his own. The result is that the family is saved a huge cost and they can now channel that money into the training of their other children in school, payment of house rent and other bills. The boy too benefits as the family will no longer see him as a burden while he begins to heal naturally.

The above, I believe, best captures the situation Nigeria was in with fuel subsidy and why it needed to go. The grouse I have always had with Tinubu and his ers is that they knew Jonathan was doing the right thing when he removed this same subsidy in 2012 but they went ahead and almost shutdown the economy; only for them to come back more than 10 years later to do the same thing. That’s hypocrisy.

EXCHANGE RATE UNIFICATION: With what was obtainable in the previous exchange rate, you had Alhajis that were making billions on daily basis by getting dollar from CBN at official rate and selling to the populace at the so called “black market” rate. The unification eliminated this and took the economy of Nigeria to the right foundation where it belongs and not on bubbles that was sustained by constant pumping of dollars just to maintain a lie.

Right now, Nigeria is no longer living on bubbles and lies. Where you see us today is where we truly belong.

TAX REFORMS: The next thing Tinubu has done is tax reform. I read an analysis that said some of our tax laws are as old as 1948. That is grossly outdated and it is right that we have a tax istration law that is informed by the 21st century realities. If anything, a lot of countries with no minerals and all, survive only on what they generate through tax. So, Nigeria should not be an exception. We are making money from oil and other minerals resources, yes, but we can make even more money by also reforming our tax laws to make for more money to be generated through tax and also make Nigeria’s federating units start to see governance as business; that they would have to make their states friendly for investors to come in so they can generate tax.

REGIONALISM: He has not done it, but he will do it. In fact he already started by getting the Supreme Court to rule that governors no longer have the powers to sack elected LG Chairmen.

The next stop is State Police which is already in a concluding stage which will enable states to take charge of their own security and no longer what is presently obtainable.

Then he’s likely to move to resource control where powers will be given states/regions to control their resources and contribute some percentage to the center instead of the current configuration where the center owns everything and gives piecemeal to the regions.

In all of these, only a president like Tinubu who doesn’t care much about his popularity could have done this.

A Peter Obi, who would not have wanted to see his popularity diminish, would not have removed fuel subsidy in full so the people won’t suffer. But Nigeria would have lost instead. Also a Peter Obi would not have initiated the kind of Tax Reform Bills that Tinubu initiated lest the north say “we said it that you should never trust an Igbo man with power.”

An Atiku, a northerner, would not have unified the exchange rate as most beneficiaries of the dichotomy that was previously obtainable were his kinsmen. He would not have dared to remove food from the mouth of his people. Also, an Atiku would not have initiated the tax reform bills especially the part that talked about derivation as most of the states in his region are more interested in destroying beer bottles than they are in creating a conducive environment for investors to come in and establish any meaningful business or industry.

So, in all, only Tinubu could have initiated these necessary reforms that truly have long term benefits for the country even though it comes with a lot immediate pain.

Just maybe, Tinubu was a necessary Saul that needed to come before David; like Pastor Paul Adefarasin said days before the 2023 presidential election.

Penguin is a bird of reason!

Today I see one Obidient who is objective and didn't allow ethnic interest to cloud his memory.

Some of us who Tinubu still criticize some of his actions but we do so with sincerity of heart and not because our candidate lost an election.

Personally I expect Tinubu istration to have put a mechanism in place to monitor the spending of increased revenue to the state. Many of these governors simply pay salaries and the use the balance to buy dollar, that's the reason why naira has not appreciated despite the fact that Nigeria no longer buy imported fuel with scarce dollar.

The second area am not pleased with the istration is the continual attempt to tolerate the inefficiency of the disco, I expect the government to have revoked license of many of the discos who have performed abysmally to serve as a deterrent to other, Nigerians should not be made to suffer inefficiency of a private company.

In general, this is a government that have embarked on a necessary reform in Nigeria since I was born

there is a reason why economists call it balance of trade..... you don't need to bring politics into discussion like this, what the op said is the truth, the government need to adjust some policies for Nigeria to grow. There are certain exports nigeria can't compete now. Nigeria government need real technocrats in some agencies not politicians and sycophants.

Yes, while government need to create better atmosphere for exportation, that shouldn't stop government from placing tariff on importation of some certain good, today every countries of the world are keen in protection their local economy through tariff on importation just like US and China are doing.

Going by the present political permutation, is an open secret that the political elites have settled to Tinubu to complete 8 years of southerners turn, and that make 2027 election formality exercise that will produce Tinubu as president.

That brings us to a prospective candidates that would fit into the exalted office come 2031.

Nigeria today is like an accident victim in the theatre with every aspect of the life of the country undergoing critical surgery in form of reform set by the president.

Who do you think in your opinion can fit into that position of consolidating the present reform based on their experience and character

Peter Obi
Atiku
Kwakwaso
El Rufai
Wike
Amaechi

If they say Tinubu is bad at least they should present a candidate that his achievements sur that of Tinubu, talk is cheap, how did El Rufai manage the bandits and the killing of Southern Kaduna people when he was governor? .

How did Atiku manage the privatisation exercise as VP that was handed to him by Obasanjo.?

How did Amaechi manage the transportation sector as a minister, did.he build rail system that a state like Lagos built despite having all the money and China loans on his laps.

What is the record of the coalition that will make me dump Tinubu for them?

If you are not from Lagos or a reside in Lagos during Tinubu era as governor of Lagos State, just keep shut and dont your warp judgement on the father of modern Lagos.

We saw something good in him when we voted him as Senator in 1992. The Senate saw his capacity when they appointed him as Chairman Committee on Banking and Finance that covers appropriation during his time. Lagosians see the good in him that made them elect him twice as governor.

Nigerians see the good in him that's why they elect him as president.

If you can't see the good all these people saw, then your eyes are blurry and your reasonings are shallow

Free trade zones are a scam western multinationals sold dumber, poorer countries. They want to make their money without taxes so that nobody benefits from their presence except the multinational. Then, the leader (usually corrupt) will tell the people they should be grateful the company is there. So you have a free trade zone where a multinational makes 1billion USD a year. No tax, but they will say '700 jobs were created' '2000 jobs were created'. The more jobs the more they underpay, the less jobs the more they higher their own foreign people.

Is Dangote a multinational? The way some people reason eh
