Ex-Delta Assembly Candidate, Enetimi Backs Otuaro As PAP

A foremost Ijaw youth leader and former candidate of Burutu II constituency of Delta State House Assembly on the platform of All Progressives Congress APC, Hon. Enetimi Biriala Government, has said the appointment of Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro as of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) by President Bola Tinubu is a step in the right direction.

Otuaro who was appointed last month replaces Interim of the PAP, Maj. Gen. Barry Ndiomu (retd.), who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari on September 15, 2022.

Speaking with newsmen in his Abuja home on Sunday, Hon. Enetimi said the choice of Otuaro by President Tinubu is a demonstration of his commitment to douse the agitation in the Niger Delta region.

He faulted claim by the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations from the Niger Delta region that Otuaro was not qualified for the appointment, saying it is a claim made in bad faith.

He insists that Dr. Otuaro has both academic and technical qualifications to hold the highly exalted position he is occupying, a post that plays critical role to bringing stability to aid economic activities in the oil-rich Niger Delta from where a large chunk of the nation's resources comes from.

He said, "Those saying that Dr. Otuaro is not qualified to be the of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) are saying so not in good, but bad faith. I can tell you he is duly qualified.

" This is a man who boasts of extensive history of collaborating with wide array of stakeholder groups on substantial public issues, including negotiating with parties in seemingly hostile issues.

"He is a peace builder in the Niger Delta Region and has been a top-level executive of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with rich experience across multiple sectors, including infrastructure development, security, environmental remediation, as well as oil and gas.

"He was member of Delta State Waterways Security Council and later, Chairman of Subcommittee on Security Waterways Security Council

"He also served as Chief Protocol to The Chairman Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and was a member of Federal Government of Nigeria Presidential Committee on Environment of the Niger Delta. How would you fault such an array of experience.

"If you are talking if academic qualification, Dr. Otuaro holds a PhD in Comparative Politics & Development Studies, MSc in Public istration, and a BSc in Education" he stated.

While insisting that the PAP boss is also a grassrooter well accepted across the Niger Delta region, he urged indigenes to offer to the new PAP leadership to further engages youths into gainful ventures that will de-escalate agitation and hostility.

"That the Senegalese people chose youth, vibrancy and dynamism over age or tradition in voting in Faye -- a very young man at the age of 44 -- as their president, only re-inforces the position I have always held that youth is the way to go if we are to achieve rapid cultural, socio-economic development both as a country or continent.

"I entered the race for the presidency in Nigeria in 2022 at the age of 39, convinced that I had the wherewithal to deliver to our people good governance and the full dividends of democracy that the older generation of politicians had often promised them but never, for once, delivered on.

"Those who scoffed at the notion that a youthful president neither had the experience nor the capacity to deliver have repeatedly been made to eat humble pie as a generation of youthful presidents and prime ministers now dot the global landscape in , UK, Italy, Chile and so on.

"I regard our slowness to grasp the wind of generational change in leadership now blowing across the world as a conservatism that will do us more harm than good as the youths are more adequately configured to lead in a world more digitalised than analogued.

"So, Faye's emergence is a wake-up call. Countries around the world are beginning to realise that the future belongs to the youth and are putting systems in place to encourage them to be more involved.

"But for the g into law of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run bill by former president, Muhammadu Buhari a few years before he left office, I don't think I, and a few other young Nigerians would have had the opportunity to contest for public offices in the last General Elections.

The GOTNI Leadership Centre, Africa’s leading Leadership Development Organization has held a successful Chief Executive Officers Roundtable in Lagos, Nigeria.

How do you feel about your recent award as Sun Newspaper Businessman of the Year?

It is gratifying to see that our efforts and contributions are being recognized. We can only thank God for giving us the opportunity to do these things that we are being recognized for. The award is a motivation for us to do more. Overall, we thank God and everyone who has contributed to our success.

Is it because of the award that people rumoured that you want to run for Anambra Governorship election?

I have no intention of accepting a political appointment, let alone running for the governorship election. I am a very busy entrepreneur, contesting for governorship or being a politician will be very distracting, everyone has their priorities and preferences. I have absolutely no interest in politics. I am content with where I am right now. The rumors about my imaginary governorship ambition are the work of mischief makers and I do not know what they hope to achieve with such reports.

People also insinuated that some of your philanthropy is connected to your future ambitions. Can you comment on that?

I am not aware when philanthropy became a criterion for leadership. I have been giving back to society for a long time now. People are shaped by their life experiences and upbringing when it comes to giving. In my case, my upbringing and experiences have influenced how I give and relate to people. As I mentioned earlier, I have never had any ambition to hold a political office, whether through election or appointment. I am a businessman and I am focused on what I do.

What is your advice to the people of Anambra regarding the news about your governorship ambition?

My advice to ndi Anambra is to disregard the news. There is absolutely no truth regarding any governorship ambition on my part. I have no interest at all, now or in the future, in holding any political office in Anambra or anywhere else. I use this medium to beg people not to ruin one's name in the name of news reporting. I will not and never be a politician. I have been really traumatized over the report as i have never envisaged being a politician in my life.

Saint Andrew's Anglican Church, Kubwa Abuja is your favorite place for Sunday worship as women in the church have come up with the initiative of spicing up worship with unique display of their cultural heritage.

The women comprising various Nigerian tribes are classified in groups, then given opportunity to entertain the entire congregation with the display of cultural dance.

One after the other they file in pairs before the worshippers to thrill them with their electrifying dance steps, a move that has enhanced unity among various ethnic groups in the church.

It has also spurred the interest of worshippers to look forward to attending worship every Sunday as these women groups always make it a memorable one.

This has also created fresh avenues for bonding among families as husbands and children come out to appreciate their wives and mothers by showing love to them overwhelmingly.

Group 2 had won the trophy as the overall best performing women group for the year 2023.

The women leader of the church, Barr. Mrs. Ann Ikpeabanobi hailed the women for their dance performances on Sunday and assured that more will be provided to them as they drive cultural heritage of their tribes to the front burner.

She further applauded them for their commitment to the activities of the group with regards to the impact it has on the church program.

Accolades As APGA National Chairman, Others Bag Great Achievers Award

The National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa has been honoured with the award of excellence for good governance and community development.

The award was conferred on him by Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD) in recognition of his numerous contributions towards the development of the boy child.

At an event in Abuja recently which had in attendance eminent personalities he was to receive it but was unavoidably indisposed, so the team led by the founder of GAIYD, Amb. Hillary Akpua presented the award the APGA leader at his office.

GAIYD seeks to raise awareness on the growth and development of boy child, and prepare him early in life for effective leadership roles.

The award recipient, Barr. Ezeokenwa expressed gratitude to the leadership of GAIYD for recognizing and acknowledging his modest contributions towards the development of the society.

How inclusion of two Nigerians create massive buzz on the show


The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP), an international television talkshow has created a lot of sensation with the inclusion of two  Nigerian female screen divas.


The globally accepted all female talkshow transmitting from the USA on Bravo Tv since inception in 2016 has since been a house hold family sitcom favourite with its unique storyline depicting the lifestyles and interpersonal dynamics of influential women and their homes.


Back in Nigeria, the talkshow programme laced with healthy gossips about challenges married couples go through, including housewives rivalries and others has garnered more viewership in the country, with some, commending the inclusion of two Nigerian female international screen divas as interesting, while serving as entertainment ambassadors from Nigeria.


RHOP has been on for eight seasons bringing new storylines and head turning drama, new turn of gists from the regular or a revisit of old trending gists with a different dimension. Among all the 'Real Housewives,' Potomac is said to have gained claim to fame through its two original cast , Karen Huger and Gizelle Bryant. 


Wendy Osefo, a Nigerian was the first of the Nigerian ladies to feature on the programme. Although the inclusion of Nneka Ihim, another Nigerian seems to add a positive step towards representation of Africans in the diaspora on the show, but the conflict between Nneka and Wendy gives more insight to larger issues Africans face in of sharing the stage with their counterparts.


Dr. Wendy Osefo ed in the 5th Season while Nneka Ihim became the 8th Season newbie. However, the inclusion of another Nigerian cast seems to upset Wendy Osefo. It is a fact that while Nigerians are known for community and unity amongst each other, that doesn't quite seem to be the case in RHOP, as Wendy's cold shoulder over Nneka became a bigger gist.  


This however, created a lot of sensation among viewers. At first, Wendy did not welcome the inclusion of Nneka in the show. Lots of gists reveal that Wendy who had enjoyed family relationship with Nneka on a different fora seems disturbed by having another Nigerian on the show. Even with the two women's husbands, Dr. Ikenna Ihim and Eddie Osefo whom were college mates, but within the period of inclusion, post the occultic threats, Eddie Osefo unfollowed Ikenna Ihim on his social media, creating a vacuum.


Other issue family brawl ensued, that reveals how Wendy's mother engaged in a fetish shrine consultation, how Nneka was wrongly accused of calling Wendy 'Osu', a cultural derogatory spew on racially discriminated folks. These and including other petty gists diverted the Potomac status quo to a different level.


The unhealthy rivalry on its own, created a heated buzz. The 'juju', fetish engagement from Wendy’s family also caught the attention of another international tabloid, 'Essence magazine' that elaborated on the story. In its submission, it stated that "Considering how much the women's back and forth arguments have been featured, viewers could expect the issues between them to be insurmountable. Both women come from same Nigerian background and have family in the same social circle", adding that it seems like there is significant potential for drama to unfold but was quick to add that issues might seem less significant to the global audience.


However, Nigerian viewers both at home and in diaspora were not happy about the misrepresentation of their revered ambassadors by the foreign magazine. While some people were of the opinion that the rift between two women should not be over bloated, yet, Nigerians are still proud of both ladies.

Youth Group begs Tinubu to appoint Dr. Princess Chetachi Ecton as humanitarian minister

A prominent group, Youth Solidarity for Progressive Change (YSFPC) has called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Dr. Princess Chetachi Nwoga Ecton as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

The group in a statement on Monday, signed by the convener, Benjamin Obasi, believed that Dr. Ecton's diverse experience and outstanding track record make her the ideal candidate to fill the void left by the former minister.

While commending President Tinubu for his decisive action on alleged corruption within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, involving Dr. Betti Edu, said the core mission of this ministry is to provide effective leadership and coordinate both national and international humanitarian interventions.

He, however, bemoaned alleged corrupt practices in the ministry, adding that appointing the right individuals into the ministry would strengthen the humanitarian efforts of the Nigerian government.

The statement reads in part: As a youth movement, we are deeply troubled by the negative impact of such behavior from a top government official.

“Leadership demands placing the right individuals in crucial positions, considering various factors without bias. The Humanitarian Affairs & Disaster Management Ministry requires expertise from the public sector—someone with a proven track record in humanitarian services, a genuine ion for the needy, vulnerable, and downtrodden.

“We assert that to fulfill President Ahmed Tinubu's renewed hope agenda, the welfare of the majority—youths, women, and children—must be a top priority. The leadership of the ministry should consist of individuals with the right skills and commitment.

“After extensive research in the humanitarian sector, we have found Chief Dr. Princess Chetachi Nwoga Ecton as the most qualified candidate. As the president and founder of When In Need Foundation (WIN) & Every Life Matters Humanitarian Foundation (ELIMH), she boasts over 30 years of unwavering service to humanity.

“Princess Chetachi Nwoga Ecton, a Nigerian Citizen, philanthropist, humanitarian, mother, farmer, and entrepreneur, has consistently demonstrated her ion for the downtrodden. Abuja Pastor, Great Johnson Philip Takes Succour To Widows, Orphans In Gwarimpa

An Abuja-based pastor and the founder of God’s Empire Christian Centre, Great Philip Johnson has brought smiles to the faces of widows and Orphans in the Gwarimpa area of the city, following the distribution of food palliatives and other relief materials.

The humanitarian campaign recently was part of his Christmas package to ensure that less privileged persons around the area have reasons to smile at the festive season despite the harsh economic realities of the moment.

Accompanied by of his church and family, the clergy took items such as foodstuffs, clothing materials, and cash.

This is one of the series of similar outreach he held during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The benefiting widows and orphans were full of gratitude to the man of God and of his team for identifying with them during the period.

He is often referred to a generous and as a man of heart of gold. As a minister of God, he has equally made it a priority to ensure that the people he is shepherding over are well taken care of.
