I have been living in an apartment for 2 years with a Co-tenant. We had split the rent 50:50 and always paid at when due until my mate relocated abroad just when the rent expired. I knew I needed to raise the full rent to retain the apartment, but honestly whether I would retain it was not clear yet to me because I only had one engagement waiting to soon end and I might have to relocate. To add to that, the landlord raised the rent by 80%, so it made me think I may not stay after all. I had to discuss with lawyer and we agreed that I can pay up the rent for the period I hoped to stay. Actually, I thought i made it clear to him why I might not stay the whole year because I was not certain yet-that's how we agreed. Fast forward to few months later, I had given him half of the period we agreed to stay, then I began to see reasons to retain the house. So by our agreed month I reached out to him and told him I had considered to remain so I would complete the rent for the whole year. I heard him say that the only way he would agree was for me to pay him his commission for the rent otherwise he will not agree. I was confused. I asked him why he said as far as I'm concerned that the tenancy agreement was written in my mates name and not mine, so I will have to commission him to issue me a fresh agreement. I asked him if he knew that I was a Co tenant and not squatting, he said yes. So if I contributed equally to the rent, that as a lawyer am I not recognised by law as entitled to that cycle of agreement until we both vacate? Finally, I agreed to pay him the commission and all necessary dues that are paid in the compound before he would sign my the papers. Then, the D-Day, the period we had agreed just elapsed.I felt everything was settled. The lawyer came back and said he will no accept the year's rent. That after I had paid the outstanding for the period I stayed, that I should pay a full year's rent with the commission he asked for and all the rest. That, that was his agreement with me. I was surprised and I apologised to him that he may have misunderstood me. He insisted that if not so I should leave the house. (House I have been living in for 2 years and I am only renewing my rent as normal). I told him I have not been living in a chalet so I don't see how I should pay using different methods. That it is rent and a yearly commitment which ordinarily is contained in the agreement, although he refused to acknowledge that. He said no, that if I don't accept I should leave, after all he had issued a 3 months quit notice which has by now expired. He gave a 3 months notice asking all tenants to renew their rent or vacate the building because the landlord wanted to renovate the whole house. Eventually no renovation happened, and he says he will stand by that quit notice which has expired and throw me out immediately if I don't comply in the shortest period of time. (Days precisely). I want to know if actually I was wrong and he is right to throw me out after I have given him a years rent for renewal and his commission for him to retain my name in the agreement papers |

I must be honest that due to the harsh situation of the country, it has become difficult to find my type of woman. My experience has taught me that a typical Nigerian lady is not ready to stay with a guy who is still struggling, not to mention the really pretty ladies that I like to ire. However, I have plans to relocate to the U.S. I'm beginning to give up on marrying a lady brought up in Nigeria unless I decide to settle for less. I believe that overseas, women are not as materialistic as they are here. So, I ask what's the true picture of my choices? |

It is sad to learn how post graduate students are made to suffer due to a directive by ASUU to lecturers not to tend to them until further notice despite ASUU not being on strike and students not owing any fees. Information gathered suggests case of misappropriation of renumerations accruing to academic staff which are exclusive to post graduates cases. There is the question of what has happened to the monies paid by students and other funds meant to cater for the post graduates program in of lectures and their entitlements for supervising post graduates students , which also includes other pre requisite functions performed by of ASUU. It is very unfortunate that rather than taking advantage of this period that ASUU is officially not on strike to pursue further advancement in education, the post graduate students who already have fears that any strike would truncate the progress of their programs are unjustly caught up in this bad situation. We hope that attention would be drawn to resolving these issues as quickly as possible for the sake of saving the future of education in Nigeria. |

You missed what I feel is the most epic decimation of Godfatherism in Nigeria between Chimaroke Nnamni of Enugu State and Sullivan Chime. The later sent his boss into political oblivion during his tenure as governor, until one fool named Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi decided to bring him back for only God knows what. 1 Like |

I applied for my transcript and the grades I saw were regrettable even after graduating with 2.2. I have the desire to study abroad on scholarship but it's normal that such opportunities are open from high flyers. Are there any opportunity of scholarship for people who like to study but are not as smart as some others who prove more brilliant? Otherwise, which options do you advise me to take to have a chance? |

I recently took a loan from palmnaira. And just about the due date I realised that I cannot gain access to my on their app which translates to inability to repay the loan. I have a feeling that I'm being set up for a pile up of interests after which I will be blackmailed to clear. I have tried severally to reach the loan company by mail and their customer service help me but I am unable to. This is a situation which I really don't know how to come out of and avoid the looming embarrassment. |

Hello, I’m about to lose a second chance to interview with a multinational company because of a challenge in setting up Microsoft soft teams . In the process, I’m required to fill in a code I should receive by text from Microsoft but I never get texted the code. I already have lost one opportunity to use the app for an interview for the same reason and I have a second chance for another interview and I’m going through the same issue again. Does anyone else experience the same problem and any help will be appreciated. Thanks! |
