So, I've finally done my compression test and here my numbers
Cylinder 1 = 175psi
Cylinder 2 = 165psi
Cylinder 3 = 170psi
Cylinder 4 = 170psi
The numbers are very good. According to Honda, anything above 135psi and with not more than 28psi difference between the highest and lowest number is very good.
This proves I don't have any of the following problems
*Damaged or worn valves and seats
⢠Damaged cylinder head gaskets
⢠Damaged or worn piston rings
⢠Damaged or worn piston and cylinder bore
Basically, my engine block and cylinder top is in good shape.
I also noticed that the spark plug in cylinder 1 was black, against the brownish color on the other cylinders. This means suboptimal combustion. So I decided to service all the injectors.
Is there any other thing I can check?
I don't have the device to check fuel trim, but I will get it soon.
Trust you're good.
We chatted on WhatsApp already.
How far have you gone with the diagnosis?

Does that mean the engine will have to be brought down to check?
Not necessarily, but the cylinder head would definitely come off the block if the leak is from the gasket as suspected.

Good day.
I ma having this weird issue. Don't know if someone else has experienced it also before .
If I park uphill, like park with the engine inclined upward, after some hours of it cooling down . The engine will fail to start, it will crank but won't start. If I park on a plain level, car will start fine , once.
I have tried this 4 times and same result. It just started happening this week.
So, what happened that would not start the csr uphill is that the spargplugs become water wet. Cleaning g the sparkplugs and blowing of residual water left in the engine will immediately start the car. What could be the reason for this?
This only happened when parked uphill and left to cool for a while. Let's say 4 to 5 hours .
There's water ingress into the combustion chamber.
Would be difficult to tell from where and how remotely.

Hello guys, can anyone tell me about Hyundai Santa Fe 2012 model. I want to get a car for my dad and I am seriously considering the car since the price of a Toyota these days is crazy. 2010 Toyota Highlander is being quoted for 16-19m by most vendors so I am just looking for a cheaper alternative. The Hyundai Santa Fe looks appealing to me and fits well with my budget. Iâm buying it tokunbo. So any information about the car regarding reliability, durability and service cost will be appreciated. Thanks.
Where would your dad be using the car? Availability of spare parts and technicians should be your 1st priority.

"The previous air conditioning system in the car wasnât functioning, so I had to purchase a new compressor. After buying the car, the seller mentioned they had recently replaced the engine. However, I suspected the engine might have had a preexisting head gasket issue, based on a past experience: once, after installing a replacement engine, it immediately began making grinding noises and vibrating violently, which turned out to be a blown head gasket. Given that history, I decided to check the head gasket on this engine as wellâand sure enough, it was faulty, so I replaced it.
Is this the head gasket you pulled out from a supposedly tokunbo engine?

We later discovered it was due to a bad top gasket and it was replaced with a new one and car runs fine now.
Good to know your car runs fine now.
Curious to know how an AC job led to rattling and grinding noise and then gasket

Hi guys.
I drive a honda accord discussion continue 2007
I recently observed that when driving with the AC on, the temperature guage rises above the half benchmark, but once I put off the AC, the guage comes down almost immediately.
Also this doesn't happen when I am driving at a free road, everything is fine if there is no traffic and AC is on.
But once I am in a stop and move traffic and AC is on, temps starts shooting until I switch off the AC before it goes down.
Please what could I be looking out for?
Thanks
Start with the easy DIY checks before pulling the big guns.
1. Visually inspect the fins of the radiator and confirm it's not blocked or meshed up.
2. Do the same check on the condenser.
3. Confirm both fans come up with AC on and they blow fine.
4. Confirm there's no leak in the cooling system.

Thank you boss for the response, really appreciate it. One last thing please. I intend to get a Toks with below 60k miles, are they two different type of engine for the car? If the 2.0 is problematic, is the other better or worse please? Thank you in advance
1st, the milage is rubbish (high or low) if car was poorly maintained (Toks or local used) you'd need to run a VIN check and have a technician physically inspect for you. You can reach me on 07089030689 for inspection if in Lagos.
The 2.0T engine is not a death sentence as it were, but it's a general rule in the auto world that Turbocharger with GDI mix is not a perfect combination. It is absolutely sweet when it works though.
If you're good with preventive maintenance, then you should be fine.
In all, those cars made for Korean markets then to be well built that the ones built for American market (my take though).

Hi everyone, please Hyundai sonata 2015, 2016 is it safe to buy for a first timer. Is the GDI engine thing that common considering itâs what is really moving now in the market? Please I need your knowledge and experiences please. đđ˝đđ˝
The engine on paper is a great one with a perfect blend of power and fuel economy. However, you'd have to thread carefully when buying one (especially if it's the Turbo 2.0 engine). If it's Nigerian used and has done over 40,000 miles on Nigerian soil, you might need full service history from the owner to be sure if it was properly maintained (that engine is not cheap to purchase) or you avoid it entirely.

What is fueling it is the noticeably reduced power. When climbing a hill, the car just can not accelerate. You can push the pedal to the metal and the engine will not go beyond 2500rpm. It will just climb the hill sluggishly. Worse when AC is on. Acceleration on flat is not bad as long as the AC is off.
Replaced PCV valve twice and replaced spark plugs twice with no improvement. No check engine light. No oil on the intake hose, but the intake manifold is quite greasy. I replaced the timing chain myself and I'm sure it's not stretched, but i can not vouch for the tensioner cos I get e little rattle from that end.
Outside the tensioner, I don't know what else could be wrong. So I want to be sure the engine still has life in it.
Confirm your exhaust is not clogged.
A clogged exhaust would cause same symptom and might not throw codes.
Modified: Is your exhaust tip clean? I believe you know an oily or greasy exhaust tip means the engine needs attention right?
Also confirm what your fuel trims are reading. A rich condition would make the engine struggle.
You can hit me up on 07089030689 let's brainstorm on it. I happen to have similar situation with an EOD I'm rebuilding the engine. This also had zero power train related code but engine had worn out and I suspect that was what happened to it.

The question still remains, what is "serious blow by"? How do we know serious blow-by and normal blow-by? I actually have an engine I'm suspecting of having excessive blow-by, but nobody has been able to tell me for sure if what I'm looking at is normal or excessive blow-by, at least till I get my compression tester. Mine is not pushing off the oil cap like you said. No smoke comes out of the oil fill hole.
Maybe you can tell me exactly what I have. I have a video. Take a look. https://youtube.com/shorts/b_8_Tzl5Ukk?si=msAv5ZbJh7CXANtw
I've seen the video and I don't think you have an âexcessive blow byâ as it were.
What's fueling that assumption that you have too much blow by?
Is your PCV clean and you still have oil stains on the neck of the intake hose?

I may have sounded rude there a bit and I apologize.
The truth is that I am also not a technician. I just love cars so much and love getting them to work perfectly.
The problem is that most of our so-called technicians are nothing but herbalists. I am yet to see a technician so a compression test, but having researched on it, it is the easiest and most important test one can do to know the life of an engine. The tool needed is very cheap, at least on AliExpress, the process takes less than 15min if you know what you are doing. It's just funny they don't want to learn it.
Cryomancer was actually not totally wrong with what he said.
You can tell if some engines (depending on the design of the valve cover and the baffle plate in the valve cover) has serious blow by from the oil fill cap. This trick helps when conducting quick prepurchase Inspection.
An engine with serious blow by (most likely from a worn rings, piston, or sleeves) would always push the oil fill cap up when loosen compare to the suction fill you have from a supposedly healthy engine.
Though I agree with you 100% that the best way to check for compression reading is with a pressure guage, but no dealer would be patient enough to have you set that up while conducting prepurchase Inspection especially if it's a V6 engine where you'd have to take out the intake manifold to access the rear bank plugs.

Certain model of Honda (pre 2013 era) are notorious for having their brake lights on caused mostly by a faulty handbrake switch.

I just changed my plugs to brand new no difference. Pls what else can I do? Not that it's worse but a 2.4l engine should get more power fah. It's 4plugs though
If you have sludge clogging your VTC, VTEC, and the screen behind your water pump, you'd experience similar issues.
I'm surprised you don't have codes for that.
Confirm if your engine is in good condition as suggested.

I have scanned it, I'll attach a screenshot of 2 scans I did. The first one is the one I did before all the repairs, the second one is the most recent one after some repairs. Right now, the car takes about a second before it accelerates when you step on the accelerator. I've just parked it until I am sure of a solution.
Get a technician with good electrical skills and asked him to check all sockets and wires to those sensors.
You're most likely having an electrical issues with all those circuit codes.

Hey guys,
An accord 2015 owner here. Car is plagued with many issues since I got it, but after spending so much since Nov 2024 till now, I felt the month of march was relatively stable until the car broke down at 11pm from a night of flenjo.
After series of trying to start it, it suddenly picked up 10mins later and luckily I was near home and r fuse to drive anywhere afterwards
Called a nearby mechanic to come check and first he said nothing is wrong with car that it is my fuel and I should used a fuel injector cleaner.
Got home and it broke down again the next day, luckily again I was close to my house when it happened.so this time the mechanic checked the pressure of the fuel pump, spark plugs and certified it good, serviced the fuel injector system. Now he says one of the cylinder is misfiring and they are suspecting it's a brainbox problem.
Rewire is suggesting testing another brainbox on the car, and if that fails they would have to check the engine if maybe gasket is bad but it has been established that one of the cylinders is the issue
I m wondering why they aren't seeing the exact cause since they use a car scanner abi thier own na for sakamanje or could this be a mechanical issue
I am already tired coz this is now day 4 at the mechanic workshop.
Who has experienced this before with an accord 2015
Forgot to add, the car starts and after 10 seconds it goes off except I keep on reving it like a danfo drive otherwise it will go off
Its like I need to keep reving it for it to stay alive
Car is just 6 months old in my hands and now at verge of selling it at a discounted price.
You've been giving your car to the wrong mechanics all along if they're guessing what's wrong with the car after 4 days of diagnosis.
Post the codes they got here for remote diagnosis, but by all means look for another mechanic before they mess up your car for you.

So I am about to discard my lexus es 300 year 2003 for a 2011 Honda accord toks this engine. My lexus is a perfect ride, everything is superb, can idle with AC for as long as u want and can go anywhere with great ease. But I want some more recent tech and I believe this car, produced 8 years later may be worth it. I don't know anything about Honda engines as much as I know about Toyota and lexus but I do know that I won't have problems maintaining this car. So I want to know the peculiarities of this car and what to expect.
Avoid the ones with 2.0l engine and go for the ones with 2.4l engine instead.
Why don't you go for the Acura TL instead since you're coming from a Lexus ES?
