Please just out of curiosity, what do mean when you say CU has "less emphasis on academic virtues and values" and AUN has "less emphasis on academic values and hands-on research"
Pedagogue:
Statsocial post=]Lol you quoted pedagogue - an hater of private universities grin

Well i would try to be as objective as possible. I think the appropriate question in this case would be "which one is right for you?" Because both unis are quite good. But You need to first consider whether you want a religious-themed university education. If you do then we can proceed to compare tuitio[img]n. I hope you understand that the tuition for CU and AUN are quite different by a wide margin. CU pays less than a million while AUN pays above 2 million which means there are people who attend CU who can't attend AUN because of cost.
As for living cost, I would spend about 25k - 35k a month when I was in CU and that would usually get me food in the morning and evening while I use noodles to compensate for the remaining times(amongst other miscellaneous spendings) but then still Mk findings as there has been inflation so naturally the price of food items must have increased. Ladies also had a naturally higher budget.

I think the only major difference between CU and AUN is that CU is a research based private university. AUN is also moving towards aggressive research but hasn't gotten there yet.

@Statsocial..*[H]ater of private Universities... lol ;
My initial reaction would have been to demand an unreserved apology for the unsolicited 'award' cheesy, but I love you with the love of God.

Besides, I don't hate private Universities; especially your Covenant Uni. I can't afford to hate CU. My siblings graduated from CU with First Class Honours. So, you see, I don't hate private universities, particularly your CU! My criticism is always based on objectivity and a dualist understanding of private and FG Universities.

@Mirand606, I know both Universities quite well, so my opinion may be of interest to you-That's if you've not made a decision.

AUN is the closest thing to an American University in Nigeria. In fact, it has an unwritten rule that you must have a foreign certificate (at Undergrad or Masters or PhD level) before you can be employed as a lecturer.

Weak: 1.Your social life will likely suck if you can't speak Hausa language and not a Muslim. 2. There's less emphasis on academic values and hands-on research. 3. Location.

Covenant: What may interest you about CU is the probability of success. If you are conformable enough to obey all rules and put in your best efforts to your studies, you will graduate with a First. Another positive thing is the location of the Uni.

Weak: 1. Utterly barbaric rules I.e phones and phone accessories are prohibited . 2. You will be FORCED to serve God/attend Church activities. 3.Less emphasis on academic virtues and values.

Tuition : No significant difference.

@Lalasticlala, pls move to the FP for the Op to get more opinions.

Regards.

Does any university in Abuja or Port Harcourt offer a DBA programme?

Thank you for your explanation. Unfortunately, quality education needs money, not just prayers. Loyola Jesuit and Covenant University are good examples. Either they seek funding from wealthy Christians or they institute an acceptable tuition fee, else they are at the risk of losing their talented teachers to competitors.

As expected, they aren't getting publicity because they aren't winning in any category in the Cowbell Mathematics Competition.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cowbellpedia

P.S. The winners in the Cowbell competition are disproportionately schools managed by churches. Man! Even an atheist has to accept the fact that Christianity is a force for good.
Thanks a lot and your input is valid. The only thing is that they don't lose teachers to competitors because the teachers actually volunteer and come on their own. Teachers retire or resign from jobs to them and even at that, those who succeed in being employed there, see it as a divine call to serve. Also the school doesn't rely on prayers. They work and pray, burn the midnight oil and like I said, the teachers joyfully pour their very lives into the children.

Is this a top school in Benue? It sounds like a private school. I'm curious to know what the school's previous alumni scored in JAMB.

Congratulations to the lass.
The school is a great school and has been doing well in Cowbell competition etc but I think they have not gotten commensurate publicity. It's a private Christian school, operated by Peace House, a ministry led by Bro Gbile Akanni. They have opened a second campus in Abeokuta. The main campus is in Gboko, Benue State. As far as I know, the staff are not paid salaries but live by faith! They also don't have official school fees but parents/guardians pay as able and led, which is discussed and agreed with the school. They have high moral standards, mission focused and zero tolerance for immorality, indiscipline and exam malpractice. The teachers are ionate and pour their lives into the students as they are not primarily motivated by salary. They see their jobs as divine mandate to raise the children.

As has been suggested, given your budget and where you live, you can try the Government Secondary School in Garki Area 10, Community Secondary School Asokoro or the Command Day Secondary School in Lungi Barracks. Honestly, few private schools will be within tour budget for Secondary school. Perhaps you can try the Redeemers TEAP School near Garki modern market, that's in Garki 2.

Op to be honest this is a thought provoking article. I'm glad to see there is a consistency in progress amongst most of these top scorers. As a product of public university, I have to it that some of these private universities have come of age and can't be pushed over. Covenant you mentioned is solid. Some like Nile University Abuja, American University of Nigeria, Yola; Babcock; Bowen; ABUAD are gaining ground.
For the secondary school you mentioned Deeper Life High School where this year's UTME top scorer emerged from, has been consistent in top performance (both UTME and WAEC) since inception and their University (Anchor University Ayobo, Lagos) is silently getting established. I think they've had 2 sets of graduates now and had their 7th Matriculation just yesterday. Truth is, some of our graduates can hold their head high even globally despite our falling educational system and standards.

To be quite frank, the staff work themselves to the bones and keep the students engaged. My love above all is for the zero tolerance for exam malpractices. To God be the glory. Go boys and girls!

It is sad, petty and pathetic that this younger generation will allow themselves to be deceived by the antics of the older guard of politicians who whip up ethnic and religious sentiments to serve ONLY their narrow political ends! I come from a family where my siblings are married to Yoruba, Igbo and Northern mixed tribe. I am also married to a fellow Northern minority from another State. I shudder to think anyone is deluded to think we can divide as a nation or a people. Along which lines? I can understand if greedy politicians do their usual stuff but to see folks who are considered leaders of tomorrow agreeing to be thugs and cyber mouthpieces of the rapacious gang that has mortgaged even your own future is the height of self-destruction.
